Good GWL observer... but the rivets have been redone IMO.

      Hi Troy,

Very nice Observer Badge by my favorite maker of Luftwaffe flight/qualification badges. I agree with Seb concerning the rivets. They are not the typical, unique type of rivets used by Gebrüder Wegerhoff so probably a re-attached eagle.

      Best regards,

Thanks Seb and Tom.The rivets fall just below the surface of the wreath rather than sit flush or proud. My pics are not great unfortunately but there's also a tiny center punch mark in the middle of both rivets-is this typical of GWL? Its a nice heavy quality piece and I like the fact it retains a good percentage of the frosting.I should get some better photos but thanks again.

          Hi Troy,

Yes! GWL countersunk the holes in the wreath so that the rivets were below the surface. And there was a center punch to the center of the rivet which peened them over. Perhaps the rivets on your badge are original. It might help to post a closeup of the rivets.

          Best regards,
