    assman para badge?

    Hello all,

I got one LW paratrooper badge.
I think this is late war Assman para badge, there are two markings, 1 and L/64.

    What means these makings?
    Asaman para badge is diecasting?

There are many burrs on surface of rear.
Please let me know. Please your comments.

The number 1 on the wreath designates the number of the die. The numbers the eagle are the manufacturer's LdO number.

I can only agree with Chuck's comments, an original later-war Assmann Para badge. Assmann had atleast 2 dies, so you can find them either marked "1" or "2". Some collectors have alledgedly seen up to #6 on the wreath, but I have only seen 1 or 2.

In late 1944, the Luftwaffe eliminated the regulation that forbade retail sellers from selling their badges and awards, so that is why you will find this late-war example with Assmann's LDO code "L/64" on the reverse. Because they are so late war, these LDO-marked examples are pretty uncommon to find.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
