Luftwaffe Panzer Badge. Genuine? Ever issued?

A friend asked me to post this badge. I'm not familiar with the Luftwaffe Panzer badge. I read on one site, that they were never issued and that no period photographs exist of the badge being worn. Another site says that they were issued in two classes and are legitimate. All said, my question is whether the badge was ever issued and secondly if this example is genuine. Thanks.

This badge is a fake made after the war, it has the typical needle hook you will find only after the war. The maker was Robert Souval.

AGREED, common fake. Made by Souval, but using a postwar S&L eagle. They worked together during the postwar era, just not sure who supplied who with all the bad stuff

Attribution in Winter-spring 45 : yes . i have a LW Soldbuch with the entry for a black grade . He also had received the Heer one before before his transfer to the LW .
LW Badge industrially made before May 45 : IMO not .
I had in my hands from a vet' a Army badge modified with a LW eagle soldered on it ...local made said to be pre May 45 ?

This is a classic example of something that happens all too often in the hobby. A friend bought this in a shop in New Orleans. He didn't tell me what he paid, but he said it was expensive. This was one of only a handful of TR items he's purchased. My guess is that it will be a while, if ever before he buys anymore. There's no way of knowing if the seller knew the badge was fake. And, the buyer didn't do his homework, so part of the blame is his. Hopefully, he'll learn a lesson that we've all learned the hard way and make better choices in the future. Unfortunately, a lot of new collectors just give up after an experience like this one.
