    Air to Ground Clasp Bronzer Silver?

    Hi guys

    I posted pictures of this clasp a long time ago when I did not own it yet and the pictures were not the best.

    Now that I have it, I also have better pictures.

    My question - Is the clasp a Bronze or Silver grade? The pin is Silver and I thought this was one method of determining this.

    any help would be greatly appreciated

    thanks,

    Al R

        Hi Al,

        Looks like a very nice clasp. IMO it is definitely a bronze clasp and it looks to have traces of bronze finish on the pin.

        Best regards,

          Hi Tom

          Thanks for looking at my post and the helpful information

          I thought Bronze as well albeit for the pin - however the bronze does look faded away there.

          best regards

                Based on the images I can see on my monitor. The Osang example this thread is about is not bronze, it is a later silver which is fading with a lacquer over it. This lacquer has yellowed over time or from exposure to sunlight.

                The bronze finish on an Osang "Air to Ground" is usually always a rich chocolate- brown, quality plating which does not seem to fade much at all.

                You can see an excellent example in this thread which Gregory got for his collection;

                And you can see my examples in this thread. However, my bronze is a bit washed out by the flash; http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...r+Ground+Clasp

                Every bronze Osang "Air to Ground" that I have ever seen, has always had a high quality bronze coloured finish. The silver examples are a different story and are often faded. Osang clasps with a strong silver or gold finish can be very hard to find. Most silvers & golds seem to fade away to the under-lying coat which is usually grey/ silvered zinc or a blackened copper coating,
