I think this is a strange place for the maker.

This is what the dealer say

"Very early, rare, only a few examples seen. Guaranteed original, has typical "CE Junker, Berlin, 2E" Hallmark"

If you ask me, this is very poor detailed

        Hi Nick

From the photos, IMHO it looks to be good - Detlev pictures (in his "Bewertungs-Katalog" 1999) a bomber clasp marked just like this ... p.535. I think the dealer's words are correct ... Juncker marked clasps don't come up very often.

The price reflects the significant damage to the badge.

        Regards
        Paul

          Hi all,

Hallmark looks just fine, all the tell tale signs of a real junker stamp.

I believe also the clasp to be original, the "ring" being broken, which is sometimes the case

              Nick,

I agree with the others so far, the Juncker maker's mark looks good to me when compared to ones on other Luftwaffe badges. As far as the location of the stamp, I have never seen another Juncker marked bomber clasp to compare with.

What metal is the badge made out of, do you know? I see that it has the triangular holes and not the round style believed to be on earlier made pieces. I have a small crack in one of mine as well and understand that this was common on the tombak made pieces due to the high impact pressures encountered in the manufacturing process and the fact that the piece is somewhat small and intricate in design.

                thanks for the reply's guys

                Thanks for the opinions

Is this still worthed to collect this badge with his damage?

This is a rare clasp for this maker ... not particularly hard to find otherwise (but more $$$). If one can 'live with' the damage, at that price it may be a very good opportunity. If you consider resale, however, then condition could be an important consideration.

                  for Tim

                  Re- round versus triangular holes:
this may be characteristic of Juncker ... both of my early Juncker Recon clasps have triangular holes. Here's my gold example.

                    Nick,

Here's my unmarked gold bomber in tombak. This is one of the early manufacture pieces. You can see the die crack in the ring at approximately the 4 O'clock position.

Paul, it may be a Juncker thing, or it may be that marked badges have the triangular holes altogether where the early unmarked clasps have the round holes.

                      Nick,

Here's the reverse side and you can see where the die crack was repaired/filled-in during the manufacture process. Overall, the finish is pretty good on these early pieces and unless you have to have a marked piece, you may find it more pleasing to go for these instead.

I think the holes simply have to do with the quality of workmanship.
                        1) Step one, drill holes
                        2) Step 2 (if you have the time or quality control) file these holes to fit the shape of the oakleaves.
