    Night Fighter clasp

When it rains it pours. Another Luft award. After 3 pilot badges, a NS flak, boxed gold bomber clasp here we go again with another clasp. This one is a IMO a choise night fighter made by R.K.

Later war zinc and it retains most of its finish. Up pointed winged arrow has beautiful patina and the dark ring still is full of its dark color. Silver is almost 100% to the front and looking at the reverse it too remains most of its frosting.
Not sure why someone wrote night fighter to the award but that does not bother me in the least because of its condition. The maker, R.K. is side ways. Has the grooves for a pendent. Pictures tell the story.

Let me know what your feelings are to this one. It has a 100% money back guarantee.

The pin hinge has been reattached. That and the writing hurts the condition significantly for me. The marker may be removable with alcohol.

Thanks for pointing the repair out to me. While examining it, something looked off about the hinge. I thought a repair but I have lost my "loop" so it were left up to my welders eyes which are not as sharp as in my younger days. The writing is of no concern as I know it can be removed easily and without any damage.

A fine Night fighter clasp. The marking would bother me as well but as mentioned it can be remove easily. I would wait for the hinge and pin they look ok to me.

I would expect the hinge plate to be "cleaner". It looks to have been reinforced to me, but maybe I'm wrong. The photo below is from another thread on one of these:

Yes it missing some parts and my point was the original hinge was in place missing these few parts or the hinge have been resoldered. These pictures are bad for me to judge. The color and patina seem to be untouched.

Indeed, a very nice original RK clasp.

Hard to be sure about the hinge, I like the look of the silver finish on it so its possible the repair was made in the factory as the crimping tools these Gablonz makers uses sometimes failed near the end of the war. A few more closeups of the hinge would be helpful.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

First let me say thank you for the positive feed back to this being and original clasp. I felt good all along and with a 100% return it too made me feel more at ease with the purchase.

Here are better pictures of the hinge area as requested. I do feel it was repaired and to me I think its a period repair. Quite possibly done at the manufacture as Mr. Durante had mentioned because it looks as if the silver finish is the same to the repair as the rest of the reverse of the clasp.
