        Hi Charly,

This one is a postwar S&L fake for me

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

It is an S&L badge but I don't agree with the postwar evaluation. I believe that some of these badges with the scrape mark on the pin are very late war and I would include this one.

Indeed Chay, there are unfortunately many, many examples of fakes coming with "vet stories" and they just cannot be trusted. Its a sad reality of our hobby unfortunately.

For me its a pretty clear cut case with these LGABs by S&L. Not a single one has been found on the souvenier sample boards that were put together by S&L after the war of alledgedly leftovers. Also the scrape on the pin as Patrick points out is a sign of S&L fake production for me; the mark is what is typically found on S&Ls 1957er production so my estimate is that this badge was created around the same time (i.e. 1950s). These can also be found with many different maker marks and also on fakes by other makers so its pretty clear that S&L produced these for many, many years after the war.
