Hi Peter,

A fine original for me. Later war Juncker example with no much finish remaining, but perfectly original and not a common clasp to find IMO.

Hi Peter,

Like many makers, earlier in the war the cut outs were bigger and more attention was giving to them by sawing them out by hand. But as the war progressed, this attention to detail got less and less and they eventually resorted to just simply drilling a small hole for the cutouts like you see here, with no additional hand filing. And then finally not cutting any holes at all, near the end of the war.

Here is another example with small drill holes like yours. It also has the sheetmetal hinge like yours, which is pretty uncommon to find. I would look close at yours with good light to make sure its not repaired, looks a little sloppy IMO and could signify a resoldering.

Thanks again, Tom! I know about the late war situation and what I really meant was the manner in which the holes are drilled, leaving small "rings" of material surrounding them.
