Unknown maker RO/AG with a twist

    Hi Guys,

OK here is one for you LW collectors

Somehow I always had a softspot for the "unknown" maker LW badges. Good quality, nice design, easy to identify and real bargains since everybody seems to focus on the maker marks.

So while browsing the usual sites I stumbled over a RO/AG clearly made by the unknown maker. It looked a bit strange and I only had one picture of a modified (cut out lightningbolds) RO/AG in my files. The pics were just good enough to recognize that the wreath wasn't made out of tombak. Since nobody seemed to like it very much I decided to have a go at it.

Yesterday the badge arrived and it was even better than I ever dared hoping for. Original unknown maker badge with a Cupal wreath and an Alu eagle. Weight a stunning 13gr.

I knew the unknown maker used Alu in his production but this is an absolute first one for me. Hope you all like it as much as I do.

    KR

          Dear Stijn,

I have quite a few LW badges but they are less intriguing than my beloved PAB's. Just not enough variants I guess

Stijn I'm afraid I miss the point you are trying to make, I can't see no resemblance whatsoever.

            resemblance

            Hello,

I see 2 points of resemblance, but i can be wrong offcoarse.

            1) the rivets

            2) the point where the needle is attached, there is also a head on the right part

That are the points that i can recognize as very look a like, however mayby the Australian wine is too much?

            Cordial greetings,

              Dear Stijn,

              Here are some close-ups

The hinge pin as you can see isn't domed and apart from the size maybe there isn't any resemblance with the way the Alu rivets are attached.

                  Hi Philippe,
Unique is right - first that I've ever seen by the "Unknown Maker" not in zinc. Excellent badge IMO, I'm glad you went with your gut and picked it up! Congrats!!

In that case I'd carefully remove it with some thinner..
