J1 pilot or P/O??

I got this first pattern Juncker pilot from Detlev a few months ago. He listed it as a pilot and it is very heavily worn with a replaced catch. Looking at it though, I was curious, is it a pilot with no trace of finish left or maybe a pilot/observer?

Dear Alan,

I can see a rest of silver on the wreath (e.g. reverse, around the rivets) and the eagle still has some of the dark grey/blue "Brünierung" in the crevices of the feathers. For me a pilot badge for sure.

Hi Alan, I agree with Frank. Look at the feathers on the left side of the eagle, you can still see the blueing. Pilot for sure.

Still, a very nice, early Juncker piece.

When that wonderful golden colour of the Tombak is visible on these worn pieces, it can often be misleading.. But, as has already been said, all the characteristics of a P B are still there...

I think that you'll find that the 'silver rings' are in fact solder that the rivets are bedded in...

John, solder? thats a new one on me, can you explain please?
I would have thought it could be that the holes are countersunk prior to riveting, so that the rivet head is lightly widened into it. Maybe thats the silver Herc is seeing, or really just traces of the riveting tool.
Closeups of the rivets might be helpful here, as solder would be very suprising.

Top badge is a normal, but nice, pilot badge for sure
