Opinion on FJ Badge by Assmann

Gentlemen, I would like to get your opinion on an FJ badge. I have only recently started collecting FJ badges and have tried to learn as much as possible. I have purchased Mr. Durante's excellent book and have been studying it.

Anyway, I apologize for the poor pictures, but it is all I have at this time. Please let me know if you see any telltale sign that it is a fake. Based on my limited knowledge, I believe that it is an authentic Assmann Type D variant, but I would like to get the opinion of collectors that are knowledgeable in this area.

You are right, a authentic Fallschirmschützenabzeichen.

                  Hi Walter,

I can only agree with Seb and Joe, a very nice original Assmann in nicely worn condition. Too bad about the repaired catch, but doesn't detract at all from the piece and knowing it was worn and has some nice initials on the reverse adds great character to this one. If it could only talk! Nice addition my friend.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Many thanks Tom! By the way, I love your book. I have always liked FJ badges, but never took the plunge to collect them because I didn't have even basic knowledge about them. Your book inspired me to take the plunge. Thank you!
