          Hi Tom,

All 3 looks fine to me, all originals IMO.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Does the gold one had a hanger attached at some point in time ?

I think it had the hanger but not any more when I got it

question re: blackening & possible maker ?

                        Greetings

I notice with the silver clasp that the swords have not been blackened.

In the examples I have seen (Osang) the swords are blackened.

Is it normal for the unmarked clasps such as this to not have blackening applied ?

Furthermore, as the clasp is unmarked I assume it maybe a clasp made by a consortium of manufacturers - ideas ?

I also noticed that the four small holes present on many clasps are not present on these clasps. Is this a cause for concern ?

                        Thank You, WilloW

IMO we can see three untouched 100% original clasps. To me the sword devices look what you call blackened, even if the colour is more grey than black.
Late clasps very often lack the cut outs. This to make the clasp less fragile. It´s, IMO, a good sign.

Thanks Ludwig - some good information to know. I am now wise about the four holes

I was also thinking if the swords are magnetic as some of the sword devices are, then this may cause the silver wash to be partly consumed by the zinc base metal - this maybe a reason for the swords looking greyer than black.

                              Best, WilloW
