          Hi Erich,

          Where have you been getting these from?

          If the case has silver writing on it, it's most likely a repro.

          Re the badge, better images may be worthwhile but I can state up front the hinge is not Juncker (doesn't look like a repair either) and the rivets don't look correct for Juncker either. That strange dendritic black pattern on the reverse is something that I personally run away from - artificial aging imo. Sorry, but from what I can see I think this one is probably also a repro.

          Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

            Hi Erich,

            I'm afraid this is a fake box....I posted a pic of a catch for you on the Air-gunner thread if you can take pic's of your catches I can tell straight away by the head on them.

            But I'm afraid the designation on this one isn't correct nor is the outer covering either.

              Thanks for your replies. I purchased the three cased badges I posted tonight from a small militaria/coin shop in Virginia Beach in 1994. I can't remember the dealer's name and I don't know if he's still there.

              The script on the case is indeed silver.

              Anyone want these for their repro collection?

              Best regards,
              Erich

                glider badge

                Hello Eric,

                First off all one would need better pictures for any kind of badge but as we are dealing here with what is supposed to be a very rare bird we can even do with blurry and not so good pictures.

                for example :

                * ball hinge is wrong
                * not worked out swastika
                * etc ...

                Iff you are wanting to find a C.E.Juncker (maker marked) buntmetal Glider pilots badge then there is only one type that you should go after. (see the attached image) + also the following link :

                http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...iting+veterans

                Iff such a glider badge does not match for the full 100 % then you better run away from it as it will be a fake. The known originals all do look alike and the charcteristics as found on this one are as far as we can see from the pictures nothing we do find on a real Juncker badge.

                I am currently working on a publication on glider pilots badges and iff you do not want this piece not any more then you are always free to send it towards me so i can do for you guys a comparison on real versus fake (for our fake galery ) + include it in the publication.

                Cordial greetings,

                  Hi Erich,

                  I could do with an example of the Glider box for my fake collection of boxes...this is to aid other collectors and myself in the research of good and bad.

                  Thats a very kind offer you made, those fake badges which I didn't get a refund on I gave away too.......I didn't want the badges at all, damn things !

                  I too am working on a article for boxes, so the pic's would suffice I guess if any one else wants it.

                      Hi Eric,

                      Another factor is the aging of the printing on the case isn't consistent with the aging of the case itself.

                      Don't forget the case would have been handled alot over the years and the designation of the award would have flaked, faded etc.

                      The printing looks like it was applied well after the case was 'aged'.

                      regards,

                      Allan
