Exceptionally hard to say for sure if your badge is good or bad. This topic on this type of LW GAB was raised before. The cast in hinge and catch type was copied to perfection which is not very hard, because even the originals are quite crude (and cast). I look very carefully at the paint and patina with these, also the zinc has to "feel" right and finish fading should look natural. If I HAD to make a decision on your badge, I would say bad, because I do not like the paint and especially not the patina of the reverse.
        Cheers, Frank

There is also a fingerprint in the patina top right which would make me leave it alone as it indicates that the patination has been artificially applied.

              To all who replied here:

I have sent a link to this thread to Carsten Baldes, because he bought this badge from me.
Since the concensus here is that it is not ok, I thought it was no more then fair to send him the link as well.

              Here is Cartsen Baldes' reply:
"The LW ground badge is 100% original in my opinion, I wuldn't have bought that if I had problems, I had the same manufactured and painted item in my collection, private purchase about 25 years ago.

              Best regards

              Carsten "

photos have the strange yellow color and don't show exactly the natural light-back that the piece has, but I don't see problems on it.

As Frank said it's hard to examine this type of badges only from photos and I'm not 100% sure about your badge. Personally i'm looking on the backside of this badges to look for traces of the casting and bubbling of the zinc.

                        Hello ak,

I´m not sure either, but the pictures are made wth artificial light.
That´s why I linked this page to Carsten Bldes, I offered to send him what he paid for it if he didn´t trust the badge.
I have posted his reply, he had no problems ith the badge.

To Ivan: the yellow tint is caused by the artificial light, it has real nice silver look on the reverse.

                        Best regards,
                        Ben
