        Mike,

must admit that I am not keen on this one at all. The features are all there but it has that soft, cast look to it. Like you say, weight should be around 45grms. Although I am not at home I think that the rivets are not correct.

i agree with you on the soft details...but no other signs of casting apparent...in fact it even has the concave reverse on the wreath....this one is pretty scary....i am going to pass just on the weight difference....but geeze this was a tough call.

            thanks for the assist

Correct rivet for a pilot's badge. Somewhat mushroom shaped.

                Details are just too soft.

A stupid question pherhaps, but is the badge aluminum pherhaps?
(before you write it of as a fake).

Might be a good idea to make a side-by-side comparrision.

                  best regards,
                  ben

                    Hi Ben,

An aluminium badge would weigh in the 10 to 15 g range. Like the others, I think the badge Mike has posted is a cast repro. The details just don't appear to be there. More importantly, there appears to be no finish, particularly on the wreath where B&NL used a fairly resilient silvering (originally frosted as well). B&NLs have been well cast for a LONG time, but the castings just don't compare to the real thing.

                    Regards
                    Mike K

                      You're probably right Mike,

the reason i suggested it was because of afew other badges in aluminum I saw over the past few monts, plus the fact that I can't really tell from the pictures that the badge is cast.

                      regards,
                      ben
