    Everyone,

These photos just came in from a friend and I would appreciate your views on this badge.

That looks exactly like the Luftwaffe Ground Assault in my collection, even down to the c hinge bottom set up. The only difference on mine would be a slight indention that is formed on the right and left side of the rivet.

        Dear Mike,

I think this badge has more on the "good" side than on the "bad" side. The only suspicious thing I could find is the eagle, which has the same design as on the good RK fakes. But since the wreath is very different, that eagle on the fake might have been cast/modeled from this very original design. I like the streaking on the reverse and I also like the hinge and catch.

Most convincing, it is from the same maker as this well worn badge from "pchwastiak", although the hinge on his sits on a plate:

I own one that seems to be a spot on match. I had thought that it was an unmarked Osang due to the setup but using a different eagle. I also saw an identical one on Claus Philipps site.

A common factor seems to be the placement of the catch which is high and at the edge of the rocks. Mine has some streaks of silver still left and oddly the eagle is dark grey and would appear to be stamped zinc. IMO a very nice and original badge albeit of a scarcely encountered type

PS Frank I think the design of the eagle in the badge you posted is slightly different. The beak is less pronounced and the line of the mouth runs below the eye rather than stopping in front of it. Pretty close though.

                    Ground assault badge

                    Hi guy's
Frank, I am glad someone liked the pictures of my GA badge. The eagle on this badge is unusual in that is a hollow stamping not a solid stike like most of the eagles encountered on these badges. Also tombak eagles on these badges are also very rare as most are zinc. Another unusual think about this badge is the colour on the storm clouds it is not black but a blue grey like you get on of the early Juncker pilots badge eagles.

                    Regards
                    Peter Chwatsiak

                      Thanks, Frank -- and everyone.

                      Are there any more comments?
