At the risk of getting torn to pieces, I personally do not like any of the badges were the eagle has been soldered instead of riveted onto the badge. German hearsay is that these are post war assembled pieces. That is only a common rumour amongst collectors here and no evidence to the fact though.

The rest of the badge, material and construction look convincing but I personally would not want to own it.

Nobody is going to tear anyone to pieces => as you mention these badges do look convincing by the metal used, etc ...

It is my opinion that most off these badges where produced by the company of Souval /Wien. The piece offered at Weitze does have the maker mark of this company and the metal used is the very same as for example other flight badges (Observer badge) with this halmark.

The material however seems to be the correct feinzink, this is possible as these badges are most probably early post-war pieces and the correct materials where still present at that point of time. The same can be said about the finisch etc ...

I also want to counter one comment about the soldered on eagle. There does exist original examples from the large eagle variant of the glider pilots badge. These large eagle variant are however privatly purchased pieces and not award pieces. So a soldered on eagle does not automaticly means fake in the glider pilots badge.
