    Oddball bomber clasp

I thought I would post this very unusual clasp which is interesting as it is from the same maker as the so called FLL schlachtflieger clasp which some believe in and some don't.
This clasp has the exact same wreath design and pin/hinge as well as the unusual drilled holes from the reverse. The later souval clasps bear a close resemblance to this one design wise so there could be some form of link there although the wreath design on the souvals is slightly different. Anyone else got one of these?

      Hi Patrick,

I have been scratching my head on these bombers for some time now. Yours has very believable hardware (just like the Schlachtfliegers) and one of the reasons I like this type of clasp.

The problem for me is that we can find these same exact bomber clasp with classic 60s Souval hardware. Also, the finish on these usually is not what I would expect from wartime-made badges. So there is no doubt these were made by Souval postwar. For me, this would be an open and shut case but the FLL Schlachtfliegers (which I happen to like and believe in), share an identical base as you say. I too have noticed this and that is what I can't wrap my head around. I am sure the bombers are fakes, but it doesn't make sense if the Schlachtfliegers are wartime. Maybe some of the Souval bombers are good? On the other hand, maybe the bombers and Schlachts are all postwar? I like the hardware on your bomber, but this could be leftover stocks being used. That would also explain why I like the Schlachts so much....leftover wartime hardware.

Too bad we don't have barter boards like we do with Souval, that is really the only way we could have a glimpse of what might have been left over at the end of the war from Souval.

      Tom

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
