    luft fighter clasp question

    i have four clasps but non have the center arrow attached?? are these late war pieces and still good to keep or unfinished pieces?? two have the black for short range night fighter

      paul pics as requested. they show all four. one i note looks more gold/brass colour one painted a drag green. all pin attachments the same

              may i take the oppertunity of adding the obserber clasp. which has a solid center, differant clasp but painted again olive drab green

                    Dear Chris,

                    They all look original and I would say they are unfinished items, because even the very latest clasps (Schlachtflieger) still had apllications attached.

                      Still interesting though. Those circular marks have been attributed to Steinhauer & Lück, I don´t know how accurate that is.

                        One thing is SURE: Steinhauer & Lück made flight clasps POST war (with the swastika!)for the collector market and they were marked that way. I know from a guy who actually bought one directly from Steinhauer & Lück in the seventies.
                        However, it could be possible that S&L got hold of the dies of another company which originally used the o mark BEFORE 1945 or they were indeed always S&L items.
                        There is absolutely no doubt that there are many original pre 1945 items marked that way.
                        Fortunately, the POST war clasps made by S&L have one feature that gives them away: the pin is a bit different and gets more fat towards the hinge.
