As promised some pics from the documents. I've decided to use the pics from the dealer since it's too dark already and also because there's something wrong with my cam. Pics from my PAB turned out horrible.

Planning do to more research as soon as time allows (working 7 days a week doesn't give much spare time unfortunately).

    Here some pics:

      Hi Marcel.

It is interesting that with an award date of 18th May 1944 this fellow seems to have been awarded a buntmetall clasp. We might expect zinc clasps by this time. I am sure stocks of clasps were held in store and it was also known for recent recipients to receive a clasp from another soldier who had been upgraded so there are lots of reasons why this could happen.

It is still a very nice clasp regardless of whether it belongs with the documents or not. It is virtually impossible to be 100% certain of whether German documents and awards belong together, as awards were not officially named to individuals (apart from the Ehrenpokal of course).

I am not casting doubt on the clasp belonging to the documents just an observation! We all know that when awards were manufactured and when they were presented could be years apart.

Thanks Tim! I agree it's almost impossible to tell if this clasp and paperwork belong together. What makes me believe that these is that besides this clasp and these documents the dealer also had more items from the same grouping, all sold seperately (like EKII, EKI, pilot badge and some more items and paperwork). It all came from one grouping so I don't immediately believe this clasp would've been added just to make the grouping look more "interesting". And as said, perhaps there were quite some clasps still in stock. But indeed, we'll never know for sure.
