So far SharkBoy aka Herr Timmler, has been proven right. He said no more than 20 DD's on the WAF and if anything he's exaggerated. Note he did not say "in the world". Duh... Got to be another 5 out "in the world" on non-WAF members. The only real collectors are here. The others "in the world" no doubt Jeumers and a lot of repros. But, prove me wrong, join up, and let's see.

I see on the database the Deumer with Juncker parts is shown as preceding the Deumer pilot with Deumer parts. I don't have any reason to doubt this but would be very interested in how this conclusion was reached. I had always assumed it was the other way around (for no particular reason!).

Is that really true? I always thought true DD's were quite early. Interesting question. The top quality of the DD's (wont show any tits as from now on) indicate early manufacture. Also the fact that true DD's are quite rare weighs in. On the other hand, why would Deumer buy parts if they allready had a die struck tooling set in the first place? Perhaps it was cheaper to buy than produce their own? But what happened to their own tools?

Flip the coin and ask yourself the question what was the reason to produce own tools when they could buy from Juncker and finish themselves? Did they become too costly? We also have JMME who used Juncker parts but they did not develop any own tools. Any one know if there are any zink Deumer pilot badges to compare with? That might give us a clue.

Its also interesting to note that the Luft badges by Deumer held such a superior quality but other badges they produced did not. (IMHO - with excpetion of the EK 1 perhaps) Hard to know what exactly happened, but food for thought.

I found this info using some old threads and luft books. J2 pattern was produced from 1939-1941 by Juncker and use by Jmme and Deumer in the same period. Deumer early thin wreath period is 36-38 so it let them only one year to produce the Deumer Deumer PB witch would make no sens regarding the work to produce a die... Maybe they use the J2 as a transition and its just my opinion.

Anyone can develop on this??? If I'm wrong I'll be happy to change it.

Based on the number of the DD's I would have to agree with this. Any number of reasons I think, cost, die breakage, labor shortages for Deumer...

Anyone actually have a DD that came with a document grouping to infer dates?

J2 39-41... Seems a little wrong intuitively to me, I would have to say to 42 or early 43...

Exactly, the one at the top left this is not True Deumer, but Deumer 1st Pattern Thin Wreath or J1/we will not recognize it only by the obverse image/

Why would you not recognize it from obverse only? The wreath and bird from the flat Deumer is totally different than the Juncker J1. They have nothing in common. The badge posted upper left is 100% Deumer.
