    Luft Ground Assault

Been looking for one of these for some time, but as always, I have to get that one with a minty look... and of course, the right price. Thanks to Sasha I got just that. Another of my jackets displays is on its way to completion. Ill post the photo later on how it looks on the fliegerbluse.

Nice early 1943 to early 44 production

I have often wondered if all of these were issued with the seperately applied eagle ???

It seems to start off they were but later in the war, this maker seemed to stop doing it.

I have had more than one directly from NZ veterans brought back from Italy 44-45 without the eagle still attached. On the other hand, I have had two or three with the seperate eagle in place.

The eagles are always tight and never lose so why did so many fall off in battle ???

There is no other maker that I know of that lost the eagle off their badges on such a regular basis so why this one. You do not see Osang's, RK's or MuK5's without eagles.

      My belief is that we have an early and late model;

Early 1943-44 have the seperately applied eagle

Late 1944-45 no longer has the seperate eagle

Some time in 1944 they stopped and just made it a one piece badge,

        Hi Chris

I agree with you that the early ones did have the NS eagle and the later war ones didn't. This WAS also the case with Osang luft GAB's and with Juncker luft GAB's. How ever Osang made a an adjustment to their badge while Juncker just left the scare of the rivethole there.

Reason why no RK's and MuK's loose there eagles is because they are rivetted with 3 rivets and superseded to any form of movement or rotation.

I think it's dangerous to put a date on it when exactly they left the NS eagles...
        Kind regards,
        Giel

I can only agree, a very nice original with some great finish left.

I tend to agree with all that Giel wrote, this maker indeed stopped using eagles but its hard to put firm timeframes on when these adjustments occurred (although I think Chris' timeframes are very likely).

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
