    Did Assmann ever make a Glider Pilot badge? Appreciate your help.Steve

        Hi Steve,

        As the guys have said, Assmann is thought to have made the Glider badge. However, it should be mentioned that there are two schools of thought on these because not a single one has been known to have been awarded. Stijn David has done a tremendous amount of research and met with many glider pilots, and none of them were awarded an Assmann badge or had one in their possession as a possible retail purchase.

        On the other hand, the badges themselves are well made and their construction conforms 100% to other known, wartime LW badges that were produced by Assmann. So that is why many of us like them.

            Now that is a beauty! Tom said it well. I have no problem believing these were available for purchase but the evidence doesn't support them as awarded pieces.
