Just received this RK GAB In your opinions do you think this is one of the factory repaired hinge solder jobs we have witnessed before with these RK badges?

Hi Steve,

I think you are exactly right, this is a fine original with the typical "factory soldering" we see sometimes on RK GABs. The solder looks to have the finish on it that matches the rest of the badge. Like many makers later in the war, it appears their crimping tool broke or otherwise became ineffective, requiring them to just solder on the hardware.
