    Friedrich Linden Pilot Badge

    Hello guys,

I just got this Friedrich Linden Pilot Badge in a recent auction. I think it is in nice condition for a zincer. It has the less-common hardware setup for a zinc FLL Pilot Badge. I find that the catch is especially unusual, as it appears there is no catchplate: The catch is simply a round wire 'c' form, soldered directly to the badge with a pretty heavy soldering weld.

    Best regards,
    Tom

        Hi Sebastien,

Thanks for responding. I just located another example with the same type of catch posted here:

Tom, that's a very fine variant you have. As for pilot zincers, FLL's are the only way to go. Thanks for showing

Sure you have Seb, the Type "B" FLL Paratrooper Badges are found with the very same setup (and I know you have the book ). Catch with no baseplate is very uncommon to find on zinc-based badges, but FLL is known to have used this on many of their awards (Para, Pilot, PAB, Coastal Arty, etc.).

Nice addition Tom, lots of nice finish still left on that one, a keeper for sure.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                      Hello Greg,

Thanks for the response. I certainly agree that these FLLs are still under-appreciated. And I think the FLL eagle is nicer than those of most other makers.

                      Best regards,
                      Tom
