    Luft flak badge question.

I am sorry if the answer is somewhere simple, as I have been pouring through data for the last few hours and hit quite a few recognition sites and my own reference books.
I have been offered a Wernstein Flak badge, it looks pretty good.
But all of the examples I have seen of the Wernstein, are "pierced" below the breech end of the 88 - the one I have been offered is solid.

There are solid Flak badges, just not any I have seen by Wernstein.

Also, although the W in a circle is in the correct place, the edges of the "W" are straighter than the ones I have seen - would there have been any variation in trademark design? - it seems difficult for me to believe, but stranger things have happened.

    So; thoughts?

    Thank you,

    Pit.

        Hi Pit,

I can only agree with Jordan and Giel, this is a common "claw" fake.

I would recommend Marc Garlasco's book on the flak badges, it shows all originals and then also a very good chapter on fakes, including this one.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

          Thank you, Guys,

Saved me a few dollars, so I appreciate it.

I will look into that book.
