I would like to post a question.... has anyone had a good look at The Luftwaffe Panzer badge on Jamie Cross's site? Its the one in the private collection..... I was just wondering about your thoughts on this piece, as I can find any info on it, and I know it seems to be a hot topic around here from time to time.

Thanks in advance for any of your responses

    Hot Topic?

I wouldn't call it a Hot topic per se. Pretty sure 95 % or more members on this site believe it to be either never awarded or never produced prior to 1945. I think until photographic evidence of an actual veteran wearing one during that period arises it will remain that way.

        Luftwaffe Tank Assault Badge

        Mike y:

Does the 'Luftwaffe' Panzer Assault Badge Exist?

Well Mike, if they don't, I "sold" 3 of them to LTC. J. R. Angolia (publisher of how many books on Third Reich Awards, Medals, Etc.?), back in the early/mid 80's & they were the (1) 'Panzer Assault' [Black] Version awarded to 'Grenadiers', (2) 'Panzer Assault' "50" Class, & (3) 'Panzer Assault' "75" Class. No arguments on prices, I got what I asked!

If I recall it right, the "50" I received $500.00 for it. Not bad! EK 1s were only $25.00 so I received a 'decent' price for my piece!

Although I've never seen any evidence that they were actually produced or issued, I do have a document in my collection awarding the badge dated 2 May 1945. I also have Ackermann's tunic and some other awards - LW Erdkampfabzeichen, EK I, and Verwundetabzeichen in Silber. I'm guessing that had the war lasted a few months longer the actual badge itself might have been produced and presented.
