        Hi Brenig

It is the cloth version in bullion (for officers) of the Luftwaffe Pilot's Award Badge. It would have been worn on the lower left breast of the jacket in place of the official metal award. Cloth awards were often favoured by aircrew as there was no chance of them tangling equipment or puncturing life preservers - a real possibility with the metal awards.

Examples of aircrew badges for officers in half decent condition are not that common so it is certainly worth considerably more than a standard cloth example. Collectors are nervous around these cloth badges as they were individually hand-made and private purchase items, so vary enormously. Trying to sort out post-war from period pieces is a bit of a nightmare but in my opinion your example is a good period piece.

As to price, it is very hard to say. Because it is difficult to establish originality with these bullion awards they usually need to be offered at less than they are probably worth in rarity value. Good luck!

            Hi Tim & Brenig

LIke Tim said, those are difficult to say for sure because they are made by hand and there are copies but to me both your officer cloth badges look originals and even seem to match each other very well (bullion colour etc)

Very nice and clean pieces, no damaged threads, motting etc... Great stuff!
