OK, I'll go one better. Who here thinks the picture in the new article of the supposed real GB marked piece looks questionable? I may be wrong, but I always thought the GB marked versions were feinzink w/ a raised logo? The one in the Cross website seems to be made from high quality material with a stamped mark. Also look at the swastika

Andy;
Detailing of the gun is pretty crappy and that eagle......talk about lack of definition! Maybe it's just the angle or the lighting. Brehmer zinc pieces were highly defined like their tombak counterparts. I love his last comment on the new sheet that they still insist that SOME of those were reproduced. No **** Sherlock.....he was selling them!!!Last edited by Tony Barto; 07-13-2002, 01:33 PM.Best regards,

Hi Eric;
Answering for myself, the Army Para badge I know absolutely nothing about and honestly, I'm not interested in that award either which is why I never really learned about it. The Luft Flak badge though.....that's a different story. That's an award I DO know something about, especially the maker Brehmer and what I saw occur.....well lets just say there was no way in hell I was gonna sit still for that literary gem. As to why I didn't jump in the fray and support you on the Army Para badge? Again speaking for myself, I can't lend support to something I know nothing about. The only thing that I know about those awards is that there is not very many of them out there that are original. That is the extent of my knowledge on that badge. Perhaps many other people felt the same way.Best regards,
Tony

I certainly recall the primary thread on the APB. I also well recall reading the article by Eric and Prosper several times in an attempt to make certain that I fully understood the statements within it, both explicit and any that might have been implied. I stated that my understanding of the article was that it was not being asserted that all Junker-marked Para badges were per se fake. However, an examination of the original badges in the hands of the German FI veterans themselves were virtually all unmarked examples. As a result, a high degree of caution should be exercised in evaluating an APB that bears the Junker mark.
I thought that my interpretation of the article had been characterized as correct. If I am wrong about that interpretation, Eric or Prosper, please let me know. It was on that basis that I saw the postion of Cross as reconcilable with the article. Cross said that there were original Junker marked APBs, and I had thought that the article acknowledged that, but made it clear that any original marked piece would be extremely rare based on the investigation undertaken by the authors.
If only to confirm my own memeory, or to correct a faulty one, I'd appreciate a yeah or nay as to whether the conclusion that I drew at that time on the marked Junker badges was correct, or whether there were lines between which I should have been reading.Last edited by Bill D.; 07-15-2002, 07:31 PM.

I have edited some posts, the Para posts (as they are now) are related to the topic of the source of the article. There is also a thread on this in the Association forum, where the topic of dealers is discussed more in depth. Please continue posts on this (the dealer) subject there. Thank you,
Seba
