Hi Richard,
Nice F&BL clasp, with most of its bronze finish remaining. Nice piece, I picked up a similar one at the MAX about a month ago. These F&BL bombers are pretty common, but they have great detail and are very well constructed. A very nice example you have there.
The transporter looks good to me as well, but I agree that it looks like it might be cleaned. I think I see remnants of dried cleaning past in the recesses of the obverse, and the reverse certainly looks like it has been cleaned. I am having a hard time assessing the finish, from the obverse it looks like a silver grade, and the worn hightlights show that it has a copper coating over the zinc, is that what you are seeing? The reverse though looks odd, even thought it looks cleaned, I don't see any copper coating showing through nor any zinc showing through, so are we looking at all silver finish that has no wear at all?
I have an example similar to yours, with a similar-looking copper undercoating. My example is a bronze grade though, so the bronze finish matches well to the copper undercoating.
