A Very Nice Deumer Pilot Badge

I have dreamt about owning a decent Deumer pilot badge for years and finally I have found it. I have checked as many references as I can and admit to still being unclear about the differences between Deumer parts and Juncker parts - regardless I think this is a beauty and now leads my favourite Luftwaffe badge list. I hope you like it too. A few photos follow.

In my opninion its not a Deumer but a Juncker parts eagle.

Congratulations! Great catch in beautiful condition and cased and not an easy one to find. My favorite Pilot is also a Deumer (first pattern/cased) the finish/hand finishing is very special on these birds. Also interesting to note that Deumer used the same case for a while because my 1st pattern came in the same case as yours.

Funny you should mention that...I too have always had a problem distinguishing between J2 and true Deumer dies D2 because other than mounting system, rivets, finish and hand finishing details (cut out, upper wing ridges dip) your Deumer looks the same as my J2 to me detail wise

Again a great bird, maybe some day...

I buy document groups and some of the lower awards and Goblet came with the paperwork but the rest have been bought in for display purposes. The Pilot Badge was bought on its own.

Hi Tim,

Congrats on a great addition. Lovely badge and great matching case.

There is no doubt that the hinge, rivets and catch, and even finish point to it being a Deumer-produced badge. And I think the eagle is a Deumer eagle. I too have a bit of difficulty with telling the eagle's apart, but the Deumer beak is a little more fierce than Juncker IMO.

But I agree that the wreath is certainly Juncker, its a J2 wreath.

Thanks Felix. I have two J2s to hand and they certainly look very similar but the finishing on the Deumer is distinctly superior to the Juncker-assembled badges. I am still happy with Juncker parts; maybe one day I will find its brother with Deumer parts.

Easy to distinguish the eagles. Different head(Deumer bit bigger and longish), different feathers and talons.
