    "AS" LW Flak Badge opinions?

    Hi Guys

Got this one yesterday, and are quite confident that its a good one, but would appriciate your opinions. Also have some questions.

    1) What colour did this badge have originally? This one is almost black?

    2) It dosen't have the double mark on the reverse left wing - is that a problem.

    3) The other "AS" badges I have seen on this forum have flatvired catches mine has a round dosen't

The badge looks like a late Kriegsmetal, weight 29,4 gr.

    Cheers Thomas

Looks good to me but could that catch be a replacement? The early badges were in nickel silver and later given a silver coating or wash.......I think the late war ones were always very greyish in apperance ....Best Regards

Thomas, this is an Assmann badge, not an "AS"- looks like a good one to me.

As Don says, its an authentic Assmann IMO. As to the catch, you are right they are usually flat wire, this one could be a very old repair but it could also be original to the badge.

Around the hinge and catch you can see the original finish.
                Cheers, Frank

Assmann seems to be one of the only makers...if not the only maker that does not have the cutout by the gun base...one thing to look for...
