    LW Pilot's Badge

    Hello,

I am interested in your opinions on the right badge, both are marked AG Wien. The left badge is purely for comparison.

    Thanks,

    Craig.

    Hello Craig,
Did you mean to say that these are both marked 'BrĂ¼der Schneider Wien'?

The left hand badge is a textbook BSW IMO.
The right hand one looks ok to but there is something that niggles me a little about it. The rivets are not quiet what I would expect but could just be a variation. If you are thinking of buying it we had better look a little closer. Can you get good, clear pics up of front and back? use a whole 600x650 for each and try to get them straight on. Enlargement of the MM would also be helpful.

Wouldn't like to give an opinion, either way, without seeing some larger images..

            Skip, I agree...

I usually avoid putting my own opinions at the beginning of the post, so I don't persuade the post. I totally agree with you and to be honest there are many more points I have an issue with on this badge. This badge is a for sale on Kai Winkler's site, I am still very interested in your (and everyone else's) opinion. Please let me know what you think. It is a very nice badge and if this is a repro then we should all double check our own collections.

            Let me know.

            Cheers,

            Craig.

Pic is still not the quality we need to really be sure.
It could just be a heavily worn and cleaned original badge, BUT everything about it looks very soft. Especially the early BSW badges were the maker is written out in full are very sharp in the detail, as can be seen by the left hand badge at the start of this thread.
The softy look coupled with the strange rivets, short looking hinge and thin hook would tend to make me avoid this badge without getting it in my hands for a proper feel.

                Chip,

I don't even feel I need to go that far, have a look at these, they are clearly different. Is the bird on the right a known pattern?

                Cheers,

                Craig.

                  Hi,

I'm sorry but I don't feel good with that pilot.

alloy - Feathers - claws - rivets and hinge are very similar BUT not total closed as originals, both in BSW long name or "BSW"

Agreed Ivan, I will let this one pass. It never fails to amaze me, that you will find such questionable items on dealers sites, it makes you wonder what they compare them to.

                    Cheers,

                    Craig.
