    Assmann Pilot aluminum

    Hello all,

    here another Pilot I have.

Please have a look at it...Assmann pilot with alu eagle....and tombak wreath?

The wreath is thin, maker mark on top left.

The eagle is a little bit lose and can be moved a bit.

    Thanks for your opinions!

P.S: maybe you could give a hint on how rare this bird is. Thanks!

      Hallo Martin,

Funny you post this badge, I was just talking to another member who has an identical badge. I agree with you that the wreath is very thin nickel silver, even thougth it sometimes looks like it is aluminum. I have about 10 of these on file, all identical and all the owners have confirmed that the wreath is indeed nickel silver and NOT aluminum. Can you provide a weight of this badge?

Yours is a nice original, I feel these are transitional types when Assmann was switching from using aluminum.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

        Hello Tom,

thanks a lot for your reply and help.

I only have a " kitchen joy" weighing machine..so the result will only be a rough result, and I made several weighings:

The weight is about 22,5 gr (+/- 1 gr)

        Best

          Hallo Martin,

Thanks for the weight, it only confirms for me that the wreath is indeed nickel silver. If this were an all-aluminum badge I think the weight would be in the 15 gram range.
