    Ground combat badge with 50 engagements opinions please !

    Dear Members,

    I just came accross this item in my collection.

    I bought a frame with some medals glued to a red velvet backing, yeras ago.

    The stupid owner had broken the pins off the back of the medals so they would stay flat in the frame.

    Here is one of them, what do you think ?

    I put the 50 engagement medal next to another ground assault badge that I have and wondered what do you think.

    Opinions are most welcome.

        Not fake ... it is a fantasy badge because it never existed during the 3rd. Reich.

              In Formans 1st edition book ,it said that this type of badge was never issued.

              This is why I put it on the forum as I needed to know if it is indeed a fantasy piece.You guys are the best.

                The eagle on this fake is very well detailed, very convincing, a couple of years ago I almost bought one (regular, not numbered) with Osang mark on it, extremely well executed, but nevertheless a fake!

                  This Numbered Luft GAB, 'Maybe' was awarded, but ONLY in paper. Even that is questionable. (If anyone has documents, PLEASE POST!.) But none were ever produced in mass. Prototypes ..... we can ONLY guess. No photos of the numbered badge 'in wear' exist, that I am aware of. Of course folks that own them will say that their's was one of a few prototypes that would have naturally been made. .... Stalemate ....

                  Since you already own one, it's a different story than if you were thinking about buying one. Maybe down the road, if they are PROOVEN authentic, you'll have a winner.

                  On Page 167 of Klietmann's Auszeichnungen Des Deutschen Reiches 1936-1945, he says something Auf Deutsch that I can't translate. I do see he mentions something about Originals and Copies. Not sure if this helps.

                    The 50 number box is 100% fake and can be found on fake numbered GABs and PABs. The flat top stroke on the 5 with the sharp indentation is the easiest dead giveaway. If you see this number box - RUN.
