I don't think it is three pieces - looks like cooling fissures.

Hello Mark ,thans for your opinion, but there are others points where you can see the fixing also in the upper part of the gun.
              I'll take some pics more
In any case you like it?

A textbook badge, very nice indeed! I will pull out mine and check as well.

                  Carlo,

I pulled my S&L Flaks and looked at them under magnification. There is NO WAY these are 3-piece badges with the gun seperately affixed. I have handled many, many flaks and can tell you every one is a 2-piece badge.

Your badge is very nice. What you are seeing are areas where the metal pulled back during an uneven cooling period. This is very common.

IF Flaks were three-piece I am sure we would see numerous guns seperating from their backs. Broken badges would also show this. But I have to tell you it just doesn't exist.

What I do see though are VERY NICE photos! Your macro is excellent!

Mark I believe in your words and experience ,looking to my badge seems to be a siluetted base badge and then affixed the vey high detailed gun.
Here some more macro pics( i'm glad you like )
                    Ciao

                            Thanks Carlo,
Yes, clearly this is a 2-piece badge as it should be. The file marks are the workers trying to file down any imperfections in the construction process. A nice original!
