Hi Pete,

This is a cast reproduction of an S&L badge in my opinion. Here is an original S&L from Tom Yanacek's excellent collection for you to compare, notice the much weaker detail on the eagle and wreath of the badge you show. S&L also didn't use that type of catch, and the rivets are also quote sloppy compared to originals. Save your $650.
