Request info re: Air Gunner & Flight Eng

Afternoon (well Spanish time anyway) All,

Apologies for not putting up pics (of the badge) but I don't have any at the moment so I'll try to describe as best as possible:

Was there ever a zinc version of the above badge with the "raised barrel hinge" (see example below, taken from an IAB)?

I'm asking as I recently aquired one (unmarked) with fantastic detailing to all parts (especially eagle feathers). The only damage is the prescence of hairline cracks from the rivet holes to the inside edge of the wreath. However try as I might I can't find a similar hinge anywhere on the site

All/any help is most appreciated & if anyone knows what I've been going on about and has pics it would set this mind at rest!

Hi Angus,

I´m not at home so I can´t refer to my files. I can tell you that BSW made zinc Pilots Badges with such a "wrap around" hinge like the type you show. I´m pretty sure that I have seen airgunners like this as well, I think they were unmarked but can´t swear to this.

The link shows the type of hinge I'm on about so things are starting to look up. I'll wait and see if anyone can provide a definate answer before breaking out the bubbly though.......that and making you cry at the price.

I don't yet have the knowledge (or Franks eyes ) to be 100% sure, on my own, of authenticity of some badges so I always try to find a match/previous good example on the site here.
