    Tombak Bomber and recce badges

    Hello All,
Here are the latest additions to my collection,
I am so pleased that I would just like to share them all with you in memory of the Vet who ‘liberated’ them just to note that I am the custodian of these few items for the time being.
The German Cross in Gold with Luftwaffe backing is a nice worn example, the two flight bars are both unmarked tombak pieces as is the Maybauer Observer badge (Broken Pin sadly). The merit cross in a box (the box is for an Ostvolk 1st class award) is in zinc The EK2 is unmarked and 2 examples of unmarked KVK2s one in tombak the other in rotten zinc
These were all accumulated by a trooper in the RAC who was awarded the France and Germany Star, 39/45 star Defence and war medal so could have been a D Day vet through to the final surrender on Luneburg Heide.
I will pop the relevant close ups on the appropriate threads
    All the best
    Doug

          Hi Doug,

Congrats on a very nice grouping you have there. All great looking badges, especially the LW ones.

The silver bomber is the most common type of clasp that is found, but sadly don't know the maker as of yet. The Recon clasp on the other hand is a nice, unmarked Juncker.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                Hello All,
Thank you for your comments. I am pleased with these new additions.

Tom, thank you for identifying the Recce bar for me, knowing that it as an example made by Juncker makes it even nicer.

                All the best
                Doug

                  collection

You should be pleased with your efforts, I'm just starting and so far the badge I'm most focused on is the Iron Cross. I know German military reguard being award this badge as much as I my CIB, I just fear picking up a repo, any ideas on place I can buy with out being tricked by a repo. Thanks for listening to this FNG.

                    Hello gilmerman,
I am pleased with this group. I always try to buy complete collections from the Ex veterans or their immediate family just to keep the history together.
I have been lucky and collected a few liberated groups in the past but my collecting has only started again in the last couple of years.
In respect to you collecting the Iron Cross you should go up on to the crosses section of the forum where you will see some excellent examples of original crosses.
Also have a look in the for sale section below you should find some listed.
My advice is buy the best you can afford unlike me who will buy just about anything at the moment till I am in a position to thin my collection out retaining the best
                    Good hunting
                    Doug
