Hello all,
As you can see, I'm a first-time poster, and after doing a little searching on the net I came across your site, which seems to be one of the most informative and comprehensive sites of its kind. I am not what you'd call a collector per se, rather I have a number of pieces that were handed down to me from my grandfather who served in WWII. While he himself served in the Pacific theater, he did manage to get his hands on a number of German artifacts, and the one at the top of the list is the one pictured below.
It is obviously a GWL Luftwaffe Pilot's Badge, still with quite a bit of "frosting" and in (IMO) excellent condition. The eagle in particular is in incredible condition (again, IMO) given its age; I've shown a detailed wing few to show the perfectly preserved detail of the feathers. I do have a few other lesser pieces that came from the lot he passed down to me (including a mint Nazi Socialist Pin (red/white/black, round), but it is this piece that I am considering selling.
I'd first like to get your expert opinions on it. I have a ballpark idea of its worth by seeing similar examples on this site and others, but given the condition of this particular one, might any of you be able to venture a guess as to the price range I'd expect to fetch for it if I did decide to sell it? I very much appreciate any feedback or info you all might be able to provide.
Many thanks!
Joe
