Early Deumer pilot - opinions needed

This pilot was posted here on WAF and on CGA some time ago and was given as a nearly mint badge. But that was something in it that seemed strange to me. And now I have a strong feeling the obverse of the eagle is painted. Here some photos and I would like to hear your opinions. The black tone of obverse and revers is very different. As the badge is rather rare I have no examples to compare

Alex: For what its worth I would tend to agree with you especially given the close up of the left wing. The blackening appears measureably thick as opposed to some chemical blueing or anodized treatment. You are correct, appears to be different than the reverse.

I personally see no issues with the bluing. I have seen this effect on many badges.

I personally have no problems with the finish from the eagle!!

Perhaps it is also a bit of the lighting in your images to make it look a bit skeptical!?

I like these scanns from your badge in this case better than the pictures!

Hi Thomas,

I'll post daylight photos today in the evening. But even the previous photos are rather close to how the badge looks in real life. From one side I also see no reason for repainting but also I've never seen such kind of finish on any other luft badge.
