    compared now to Jeff's badge,
i'm going back to my first post and assessment: the badge has all the criteria for an original GWL
I was very confused by 3 points:
1 the badge is in the fake databank,
    2 the very black eagle
3 the badge comes from Staegemeier site.
but when I right now with Jeff's GWL see, I see no difference, even on points raised by Tom, the "G-" ...... everything available

if it is really possible today, producing such badges, then ends my collection

Also, I would like to add that GWL workers did not always use their good eye while applying these rivets and the crooked application on the badge in questions left rivet is commonly seen in originals.

      Jeff,

I mean the left revit is a dual revits. There is a silver revit in the center and bronze one off center.

      regards,

No, there is only one rivet indy. The rivet punch was off center, so it left a punch mark in the wreath and also malformed the brass rivet. This is not uncommon on GWL badges and something I look for with originals.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Agreed Marc! Perhaps this is part of his master plan of evil for ruining the hobby. Throw some good badges in with his trash and let us sort it out. Who knows, but I still believe that with careful study as a collecting community, we will always be a step ahead of the sh*tbag Heros of the world.

              Hallo Jos,

this rings are sometimes visible on some badges but only when the piece is photographed in a certain angle or light!!

Here is a backshoot from a piece from SDA Forum Databank from Militaria Berlin!

I thing the ring is here also visible!

here are two more pictures from the second piece from his site that was sold this year from a Dealer in Stockholm!!

The other pictures are in post 23 and 24...

This piece you can also see on his Site right now (its on hold / reserviert)!

He has shoot the pictures on his page with light so the pieces looks a bit different and this double rings are more visible!

The pictures here are tacking in a better light and here you can see the Eagle is not really black!!

And the double ring is here not visible!!

In my opinion i can't see anything wrong on both observers on his site!

P.S. I hope this thread is not going to complicated......

Great pictures Thomas! I see now there exists original GWL observers with dark eagles, now this matter has been cleared in my own mind. Thanks for posting.

Jeff, that badge that Thomas just showed was one of the 2 that were on Staegemeir's site.

Hi Tom, I missed that in the thread. I never look at his site, but the side view shows me tool marks that are sometimes found on original GWL observers. Unfortunately, I guess the badge has not laid my mind to rest about the darker finished eagle. Does anyone else have a GWL observer with this blackish eagle on it? The only GWL I have seen with this color of finish was a pilot badge without the fingerprint, if I remember right, that caused us all a lot of grief.
                      best wishes,

                        Tom,

please check the red arrow. It looks like a casting revit to me.

Hi Indy, that ring is formed by the tool used to spread and dimple the rivet, it is just that when the worker struck the tool he did not have it centered on the rivet head, it has nothing to do with a casting.
                          best wishes,

                            thank's Tom...

                            @Jos.

also by the badge that user lothringen on post nr. 13 has shown you can see a little bit the double rings by the maker mark!!

I think these rings have no significant!

The first badge shown in the thread is bad to me. Forget the marks, look at how uneven the back of the eagle is; it has hills and valleys. It is cast....

That was my thought also, very uneven back for a struck badge ..
