                Hi Walther,

Nice original Deumer, that has to be the mintiest Deumer ROAG I have ever seen. Whenever I see such a minty, zinc badge I am always concerned about refinishing. The black finish on the eagle looks darker and thicker than I am used to seeing on Deumers, but maybe its just the pics. Lets see what others are thinking...

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                    Hi Walther,

Can you take some closeups of the wreath area, next to the eagle's wings on the obverse? The more I look at this badge, the more I am convinced it is refinished IMO.

                      Hallo,

the pictures were taken in the evening by light!!

So they do not act just like it looks in real!!

Here are some detail pictures from Militaria Berlin (where I bought the badge)!

Maybe Walther can make tomorrow a few better pictures with a scanner!

These zinc pieces are not easy to photograph!

The eagle looks a bit brighter or grayish like on the images!

It always looks on the images a little different than in real!!

In my opinion its a very nice and good piece!!

The white finish is also available under the wings and rivets!!

                      Best regards
                      Thomas

                          Hi guys,

Here are a few Deumer badges that I think show the "typical" Deumer finish for their zink eagles. Notice that the eagle finish seems lighter, more translucent and a bit glossier compared to the matt-black finish we see on Walther's badge. These two badges are from Tom Yanacek's collection, hope he doesn't mind me using them for a representative example of what I personally feel Deumer badge finishes should look like.

Again, I think this is a perfectly ORIGINAL Deumer ROAG, but I only question the finish on it. If you look at the obverse, I think you can see the original, translucent greyish finish on the eagle in a few spots, but I think the eagle may have been "touched up" with a dark, matt-black finish (see the red lines on toward the rear of the eagle and tail).

Also interesting to see the line under the wing of the left side of the badge, and what appears to be some black finish on the wreath right above the wing. I think the original frosted finish on the wreath would stay intact under the wing, but be rubbed off the further it goes away from the wing. However, on this badge it is the exact opposite: It appears there is not silver frosted finish directly under the wing, but yet its frosted everywhere else. This is inconsistent with original finishes in my opinion.

Also notice the few black spots on the reverse of the wreath, I think this is remanants of the new, matt-black finish where a little spilled onto the wreath my accident.

Maybe I am totally off base here with all the other positive comments about the badge. I find that one of the hardest things to judge in this hobby is finish, especially based on pictures alone....

Thanks for your work Tom D.

I like the way you look the badges

And i dont want that a badge from my collection will be talking nice or bad ......

a realistic judgment is that what i wants to get !

                              ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have take one of your postet airgunners and make it a little bit darker, if you look at the red circle .....for me it looks like the same grey under the dark wich you notice on my gunner.....or am i wrong ?

The badge will arrive in the next hours than i can post some better pics
