Before we leave this interesting and informative thread, does anyone have a marked or unmarked "for sure" Juncker clasp to which we could compare the clasp which started this thread? Or, in the absence of that, does anyone have, in hand, a clasp which matches exactly the leaf and wreath design of this clasp (since it is not a direct cast copy of an Assmann, as originally suggested)? Could anyone provide exact measurements and weight of this clasp?
Just seems to me it might be helpful to "tag" this one with some more specifics which collectors can "look out" for. Although dealers who handle this type have been identified (and you can avoid their sites), that information may not save you at a show.
Nice work, Tom and Patrick, giving us a better understanding of what an Assmann clasp should look like!Attached Files

We don't know of any Juncker-marked fighter clasps (as far as I am aware). The only Juncker-marked flight clasp I know of is the Bomber, which I will show below. Clearly a different wreath and leaf structure, different reverse hardware and with a maker mark that matches other Juncker-produced LW badges.
If Juncker made a Fighter clasp, it is likely one of the more common, UNMARKED tombak ones we see, with the circular, milled out center on the reverse. If they made a zinc badge later in the war, I think we will find that it is also unmarked. Remember that most of Juncker later-war LW badges made from zinc were left unmarked (Paras, Glider, Flak, LGAB, etc.). So that will certainly complicate the search.

I don't have any of these fakes in hand, but I will post some of the ones that I have good pics of, which will allow you to see that these are all the same fake, but just with different hardware and maker marks.
These are usually left unmarked, but some (like Sly's above) can be found with a Juncker maker mark. Here is an identical one, but with a BSW mark:Attached FilesIf it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a littleNew Book - The German Close Combat Clasp of World War II

Here is another, this time marked for GH Osang. I posted another fake Osang earlier in this thread, so this is a different one and notice the different cutout shapes and reverse hardware. Despite all these little changes, all these fakes are made by 1 and the same faker in my opinion.Attached FilesIf it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a littleNew Book - The German Close Combat Clasp of World War II

Before this thread gets put to bed, can anyone clarify something about fighter clasps that I have been unsure about for some time - numbering and award criteria.
The bronze, silver and gold award criteria seem to be clear, with Gold being awarded on completion of 100 missions.
The star pendant seems to represent the completion of 400, or is it 500? (400 plus the 100 from the gold award?)
Then there are the numbered hangers to add into the mix, from 200 through 2000. Is the number '500' exactly the same award as a star pendant? If not, why don't numbered hangers start at 600? Numbers 200, 300, 400 and specifically 500 seems to be redundant?
Or was the star pendant discontinued when the numbering was instituted?
Best,

I was truely astonished to see the clasp that started this thread has popped up on Weitze's update this weekend. Hopefully he will discover its a clunker and pull it.
Before anyone says anything bad about him I will just add that I have dealt with him a number of times and in my experience he is a very friendly and honest man and I do not think he would knowingly sell a bad item.
