cased B&NL pilot badge for opinions

Hello All...I did some comparisons with others in previous threads and I think the badge is OK although I'm not sure about the copper coloured rivets.

The case I'm not sure about at all

Let me know if you need any other pictures

    Thanks in advance

I agree with Tim. The badge looks like an older cast repro, but the case is a very nice early example.

Dimensions/weight of the badge will confirm it is bad.

                Regards

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

Thanks for the feedback - if someone can post a real one I would appreciate it because obviously I still have a hell of a lot to learn.

actually I was looking at some more old threads and there seems to have been another fake very much like this one posted a while back.

I don't have any calipers but the wreath measures 54 x 41 mm and the wingspan is 65 mm - weight is 32.8 grams

                    Hi Curt,

I don't have access to my example for dimensions, but I have the weight recorded as 46g. I know B&NLs are one of the heaviest Pilot/PO Badges, so 33g just does not fit.

                    Regards

For what it's worth http://wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/s...d.php?t=248628 Looks like the same type.
                      Cheers,

The badge in this thread is much easier to ID as a casting. Look at the second pic in post#3 - the catch shot. There is a clear casting line along the edge of the wreath. I also get the impression from the second pic in post#1 (the reverse of the swas) that there is also a casting line on the edge of the swas.

                        Regards

If this set is for sale try to get just the case as it is a beautiful one.

Thanks again for all your input.

Mike, you're right about the weight. I found an old issue of the Military Advisor that featured pilot badges and it has the weight of the example pictured at 46.3g

IMO the case is ok but the badge not
