    Rarest Badge

Does not the version of a particular badge and maker possibly effect the rareness. I would think each type even if common might have a version that could be towards the top of the rare list. Junker seems to be ranked low but what about the early thin ones for example? Or a rare type maker mark among the common ones of a given maker? Or a badge marked 800 silver content. I have one marked as a Junker. It has been worn and has an award document and case with it. Maybe it is a custom worn jewelers copy with a document from the original awarded badge? It is a good piece. Guess I need to get it posted. At the very least interesting!

Post it than, I am sure the others would like to see it too.

I don't really care about rarity stats.I buy the badge which ones design I like.

Thin wreath Assman maker marked with A more rare than thick wreath?

          Hi Gene,

We now know of 2, here is the other one. But you are still right, probably still the rarest Pilot badge variant known.

Yes, very much so. I think we only know of a handful "A"-marked thin-wreath examples, whereas the thick wreath examples are probably the most common PB to be encountered.

              Rarest Badge

Hey Janos, I bought a large number of badges years ago when I had the fever, and bought more than one of several makers. I just don't want to get rid of something I should hold on too. I think also it is a valid question in general, and good information to match up with pricing. I agree with you though, buy what you like regardless of how rare. Just like art! Have a great day! Tom

Interesting how the J. Deutschbein Euskirchen marked examples didn't rank - are these now considered bogus?

                    Hi Mike,

                    Likely an oversight because:

                    1. They are rarely encountered and

                    2. Not all collectors like them.
