part of a fighter clasp, possible night??

    Hello,
Came across this little guy, wondering if it is a original and if it is possible from a night fighter clasp bronze or gold... thanks for any help...

        Hi Van,

Looks to be a silver grade, I see signs of a silver wash on the reverse unless the colors in the picture are off. I also think this is a regular SR day fighter rather than a night since I see no traces of black lacquer on the wreath. The black finish is usually pretty thickly applied, and I think we would see some signs of it left over, even on a clasp in this broken condition.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

The blacking to the wreathes was not always thick. The early varieties had a very thinly applied coat.

                Hi guys,

Gene, I agree with you completely but since this is a zinc clasp it is a later variant rather than earlier. I also see several areas of silver finish on the obverse wreath, so if that finish survived, I think we would see more traces of black if it were a true NF.

I don't think its an RK, several of the berries don't seem to line up to my eyes.
