Sorry, But that one is a fake. Nothing at all like an original Deumer, in my opinion.

            Best regards,

                Hi Holger,

This indeed is a reproduction. Very well made, but clearly different than original Deumer badges.

In particular, the maker mark is not like originals, and this exact type of mark has only been found on reproductions or VERY questionable badges. We have yet to find it on an unquestionable good Deumer badge. On top of that, the obverse wreath is a copy of a Meybauer badge, while the eagle is a copy of BSW. So the entire badge is put together from various makers, which should always be a red flag of caution!

For your files, here is another reproduction using the same fradulent Deumer mark, this time situated on a fake made from a Juncker badge.

                Tom

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                  Hello Holger,
To expand just a bit on what Tom has revealed here for us, I've made a quick comparison photo of maker marks - the one of your pictured badge and an authentic Deumer Pilot Badge. The Deumer firm used the same style marking on all of its Luftwaffe Badges throughout the war. It did not differentiate much, if at all, from buntmetall right through to the zinkers.

Thank you all very much for your input. My friend will not be very pleased but those are the breaks when you collect Third Reich stuff! I will pass this on to him.

Yes, last week I did post a good Deumer but my friend thought that his was an early one and that is why there were the differences because we did put them side by side for comparison.
