    Hi guys,

Daniel, no one said that this was a Staegemeir fake at all. And as far as the dimensions are concerned, the width is a full 2 mm off.

I agree with you that dimensions should not always be an indicative of bad versus good because of the discrepancy in measuring devices, but a full 2 mm off is pretty bad and taken with the rest of the evidence I cited is all pretty damning in my opinion.

Here are "textbook" Osang rivets. Notice the flat, platue on top and neat appearance.

Again, no one said this was a Staegemeir fake at all, but in my opinion something different. There is someone out there making really good reproductions with very dark appearance to the base metal they are using. Not sure if it is zinc or not, but its very black-looking compared with the lighter grey found with original zinc. Here is a similar badge that I feel might have been made by the same guys, note the same dark color of the eagle and wreath under the cheap white finish. Incidently, this is also marked Osang, and is a very accurate casting of an FLL wreath with a Juncker eagle.

Maybe the same guys, maybe not. But the appearance of Chris' badge just reminds me of it.

Here are some photos of the rivets on the Osang that started the thread...

Chris, the dished area around the rivets are a bit deeper and more defined on your badge than the badge that Tom has shown. These are characteristics of the wreath. Your rivets themselves are pretty hammered which isn't a bad thing, but it's hard to spot similiarities with the known original.
            Regards,
            Frank
