    Oval Pilot Badge CEJ

Also called the Air Crew qualification badge.

Maybe Pieter will compare to his example.

Are any of these around with provenance? This one in the collection of my friend I visited last week. Surely someone must have one with some concrete provenance to compare.

Brian search under Aircrew Badge and you'll find one or two. Sorry I don't know how to give you the link.

I think Pieter Verbruggen if I remember correctly has one of these ?

        Kind regards,

        Marcus

not the typical fake CEJ logo - most of the fake cej's have the stroke across the top of the j.

Thanks Marcus, I did some searching and I found a far shot of Pieter's.

No, not a match... Pieter's is like Detlev's example in his book and they do NOT match.

Cannot say anything about that badge, but when you compare Pieters to yours, also in my eyes a match.

                  best,

Sorry, but a different badge. In my opinion a new fake has hit the market.

I don't know anything about this badge but the wingtips look different to me. Might be the angle but that is JMO.

I have no pony in this race so feel free to take a whack at it.

Wreath and eagle on Pieters look different to me but hard to tell from the angled photo I've found. And I would expect no variations on this short lived badge.

My buddy will never accept this as proof but I just can't make these two as being the same...

                          Joe D likes to compare the talons and I think it's often a tell;

As you might be offered one of these and be tempted to drop $4 or $5 grand, this could save you a bundle. I'm happy I can look and not buy now, pay later

                            Hi,

Brian ,the badge lacks the Juncker quality and is quite different to me..

The eagle on Peter's badge is much thinner ,like the early Juncker Pilot ,Observer ,P/O...
It also shows the high details etc... ,the eagles head looks very familiar with the early Juncker Observers badge ,same design head..
                            Claws ,nails...all Juncker...

I'm afraid your friends badge is a copy..and compared to a Juncker not the best copy...IMO.

                            Jos.

Jos, I totally agree with you, and you too Tim C.

I had never held one before and when the person handing it to you swears up and down it's right and where it came from it's hard to disagree until you can get clear and start looking at comparisons. That done, I'm sure Pieter's is the real deal and this is a convincing copy in lieu of having held the real deal or having an opportunity to study.
